Apache beggarticks - Bidens ferulifolia in reflected ultraviolet photography, simulated bee and butterfly vision II

Today shots of a spring flower I have written about before, Apache beggarticks - Bidens ferulifolia in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight. All shots were done at about f5.6.

Bidens has a strong visible UV pattern, its petal tips are UV bright around 365nm, its center is quite UV dark, so this gets quite nicely visible.

Mexican Creeping Zinnia - Sanvitalia procumbens in reflected ultraviolet photography, simulated bee and butterfly vision

Today shots of a spring flower, a Mexican Creeping Zinnia - Sanvitalia procumbens in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight. All shots were done at about f5.6.

This Mexican Zinna has a strongly visible, deep into UV reaching pattern. Its petal tips are UV bright, its center is quite UV dark, so this gets quite nicely visible.

Dandelion - Taraxacum officinale flower in reflected UV ultraviolet photography and simulated bee vision

Today about another early spring flower, Dandelion - Taraxacum officinale in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight. All shots were done at about f5.6.

This Dandelion flower has quite a prominent UV pattern, its petals are UV bright around 365nm, its center is UV dark, especially the anthers, and this gets quite nicely visible.

Rock tulip - Tulipa saxatilis in reflected ultraviolet photography, simulated bee and butterfly vision II

Today some close-ups of an early spring flower I have written about before, a Rock tulip - (Tulipa saxatilis "Lilac Wonder") (often wrongly labeled T. bakeri) in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight. All shots were done at about f5.6.

This rock tulip has a not so strongly visible UV pattern, its petals are UV bright, and this gets quite nicely visible in these close-ups.

Today about another early spring flower, Marsh marigold (Caltha palustris) in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. This Caltha flower has quite a prominent UV pattern, its center is UV dark, as well as some UV dark veins on its petals and this gets quite nicely visible.

Dwarf Tulip - Tulipa pulchella violacea in reflected ultraviolet photography, simulated bee and butterfly vision

Today also about an early spring flower, a Dwarf Tulip (Tulipa pulchella violacea) in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Today about an early spring flower, a Pasque Flower (Pulsatilla vulgaris) in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter as well as my XBV filters for simulating butterfly and bee vision. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was sunlight. All shots were done at about f5.6. I have already written about that flower before.

Apache beggarticks - Bidens ferulifolia in reflected UV ultraviolet photography

Today about a quite well known spring flower, Bidens ferulifolia or commenly named Apache beggarticks in reflected ultraviolet photography using my "work horse" UV filter, the Baader-U filter. Lens was a CERCO 94mm quartz fluorite lens. Light source was Xenon light. All shots were done at about f5.6. I have written about that flower last year and also measured its special UV reflection using my spectrophotometer as well as I have shown it in various spectral bands and simulated butterfly and bee vision.

Bidens has quite a prominent UV "bullseye" pattern that peaks around 365nm on the petal tips, buts its center is very UV dark and this gets nicely visible.
